What the Exam Asks

Category III language items rarely ask you to define a program. They give you a person, a goal, and a setting, and ask which approach, target, schedule, or measure fits. ETS applies the same planning elements to every area: evidence, client and external factors, goal order, when to begin, modify, or end, scheduling and format, caregiver and teacher training, prognosis, and progress measures that include social validity and quality of life.

This outline goes deeper on language than the Named Treatment Approaches table. Use that table for quick name recognition across all areas. Diagnosis of aphasia types lives in Aphasia Classification; reading and writing instruction lives in Literacy, Reading & Written Language; goal wording and notes live in Treatment Planning & Documentation.

High-Yield: ETS does not require any named program. When two answers both name real approaches, pick the one whose candidate profile and goal match the stem: who the person is, what they want to do, and what is getting in the way.
