Free SLP Practice Questions with Rationales (No Signup Required)

TL;DR

  • Our free SLP placement quiz has 12 original questions covering all three content categories.
  • Every question includes a detailed rationale explaining why the correct answer is right and why the distractors are wrong.
  • No signup required. Take the placement quiz and get a personalized study plan based on your weak Big Nine areas.

Why Practice Questions Beat Rereading

Research on adult learning is clear: retrieval practice (actively pulling information from memory) produces much stronger learning than rereading or highlighting.

For SLP exam prep specifically, practice questions give you three things rereading cannot:

1. Question-reading practice. Clinically framed multiple-choice questions require you to notice the age, setting, diagnosis, safety issue, and best next step without over-reading the stem. 2. Weak-area identification. Every missed question is a signal about a concept you need to revisit. 3. Time pressure calibration. Timed practice builds the pace and decision discipline you need on exam day.

Textbooks are reference material. Practice questions are where learning happens.

What Our Free Practice Test Covers

Our free placement quiz is 12 questions, designed to give you a realistic snapshot across every Big Nine area in about 6 to 7 minutes.

  • Questions from all three content categories (Foundations, Assessment, Treatment).
  • Coverage of the Big Nine areas: speech sound, fluency, voice, language, pragmatics, cognition, AAC, hearing, and feeding/swallowing.
  • A mix of recall, application, analysis, and clinical reasoning difficulty levels.
  • Detailed rationales for every question (correct answer and why each distractor is wrong).
  • A personalized study plan based on your weak Big Nine areas.
  • Category-level scoring so you know where to focus review.

How to Get the Most Out of the Practice Test

A practice test only helps if you use it right. Here is the process I recommend:

1. Take it under timed conditions. No pausing, no looking things up. Treat it like the real exam. 2. Do not panic if you get a low score. A diagnostic is not a prediction. It is a map of what to study. 3. Read every rationale, including for questions you got right. Sometimes you get a question right for the wrong reason, and the rationale catches that. 4. Screenshot your weak-area breakdown so you have it for your study plan. 5. Revisit the same weak areas with fresh questions within 48-72 hours. Spaced retrieval is what makes the learning stick.

Are These Real Exam Questions?

No. All questions on SLP Study Hub are original practice items written specifically for this platform and reviewed around SLP clinical knowledge, the Big Nine, and common exam reasoning patterns.

Real exam questions are confidential. SLP Study Hub does not reproduce them or claim access to them. Our questions are designed to help you practice the reasoning, difficulty, and content coverage students need for exam day.
